Conflict of Interest Avoidance
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rule specifies 18 circumstances that represent a high conflict of interest for verification bodies. The conflict of interest requirements apply to the verification body, lead verifiers and general verifiers.
Carbon Verification Service, LLC takes the following measures to avoid and detect conflict of interests:
- Carbon Verification Service provides verification services only. It does not provide consulting services to any customers.
- Carbon Verification Service is an independent firm. It is not owned, controlled by, or a subsidiary of any other organization.
- Carbon Verification Service screens all employees prior to employment for potential conflicts of interest.
- Carbon Verification Service employees are required annually to review and sign a Prevention of Conflict of Interest Assessment Certification.
- Carbon Verification Service employees are prohibited from accepting gratuities, gifts, meals, travel, entertainment or any other item of monetary value from customers, or others with whom Carbon Verification Service does business.
